A Note from the Artist:

My name is Heather Wylie and I'm a Texas artist. When you buy art from me you help support my family, so thank you! If you're reading this, I'm so excited that you've purchased a piece of this desert series. These twelve pieces are very special to me. They're the first digital series that I've completed. I began working on the series after a trip my husband and I took to the Big Bend area. We love this part of the state. We were married in Fort Davis and we have a place in Terlingua to enjoy with our son. Some of the animals in this series are found in the Big Bend region. I wanted to share these pieces with my son and assembled them into a children's book with animal facts.

My maternal grandparents were instrumental in cultivating a love of art in me. I grew up going to museums and visiting with local artists. My grandfather made jewelry and stained glass. My paternal grandmother was a composer and pianist. I had a childhood filled with creativity. I began making art when I was fifteen years old. I studied under Texas artist Katherine Pittman and I feel that I honor her legacy by carrying on a style heavily influenced by her own. I've always loved animals. As a child, my life was filled with animals - from cats and dogs to rabbits and fish. In grad school my work focused on animal imagery in literature. As an artist, much of my work centers around animals as well.

My intention with this series is that they will be offered on metal in a limited number. No more than ten of each print will be available and only certain pieces from the series are available. A certificate of authenticity has been included with your purchase.

Each of these paintings is featured in the children's book Animal Friends of West Texas.
